We were honored to host the Smile I Stutter team at Trey Junior School for four incredible days. The team dedicated one day to community outreach and three full days at Trey Junior School, engaging with our students and teachers through interactive learning sessions.
Their visit focused on speech confidence, self expression and the simple but powerful message that every child's voice matters. Pupils who normally sit quietly at the back of the class were standing in front of their classmates, reading aloud and telling their own stories.
During the community outreach day the team walked through the neighbouring villages of Wakiso, meeting parents and guardians, sharing practical advice on supporting children who struggle with speech, and praying with families.
Teachers also benefited. The sessions gave our staff new classroom techniques for encouraging shy learners, managing large classes and building a culture where children are never mocked for how they speak.
We are deeply grateful to the Smile I Stutter team for their time, their generosity and their heart for the children of Trey Junior School. Partnerships like this remind us that when children learn and mothers thrive, entire communities rise.
